As the wedding day gets closer (less than 2 weeks!), I get more and more ready for it to just be here already! I have lots of little projects to finish up, but everything major is ready to go...except tables. I need to find like 10 more tables. Anyway, one of the things I got nailed down last week was cakes. We're not doing a wedding cake, but I wanted to have some cake there for people who like it. The main dessert is actually going to be pies, but I'll post about that later.
So cake!
My dear friend Stephanie's mom is a master cake maker, and she is making me three cakes for the wedding. When we first started talking, I put together a pinterest board of things I like, so she would know where to start.
I knew I wanted something that was unassuming and looked...edible. Everything in the wedding is super laid back, so I think the cake should match. I love texture, so most of what I have on the board is about the texture of the icing!
For the two tier cake, she is going to do that texture on the left, and we're going to add lavender around the middle. I had a cake once that was almond cake with a raspberry filling that was absolutely amazing, so I requested that. I've got to figure out a way to try all of these things without busting out of my dress!
The other two cakes will have these textures. She said she would have fun making these, so I'm excited to see them! One will be pink-lemonade cake with lemon cream cheese frosting and the other will be chocolate mint. My maid of honor made a face when I told her the flavors (she and I don't agree on a lot of foods), but I'm hoping everyone else will find something they like!

Wedding Hair Ideas
I thought it might be fun to pull together some of my favorite wedding hairstyles for today. It's always nice to get a little hair inspiration, right? There's no way I could actually do one of those braids above by myself. My arms get so tired when I try to hold them up to do my hair (and when I'm trying to hold warrior poses in yoga), so if anyone wants to come live with me and be my personal braider, I wouldn't be opposed to it. Anyway, this is the style I love most for my own wedding, especially the left one with more curl. Since I have such long hair, and I want to wear it down, my options are pretty limited. I don't mind it though because I love the waterfall braid! Here are some other gorgeous styles that I think would look great for a wedding 'do.
If I was going to wear a veil, it would definitely have lace edging! Isn't that just so pretty and classy? There are so many great styles to choose from...I haven't come across very many that I just really dislike (besides styles that remind me of the 80s or early 90s...big hair can be scary). What about you all? What is your favorite wedding hair style?

Craspedia Crazy
I am so happy that I had a pretty relaxed December, because so far January has been busy. I like that life goes back and forth like that. I do enjoy having things to do, but too much of that can make me a little bit crazy! I also find that I'm more successful in maintaining healthy habits when I have fewer tasks to worry with. Since I've been so busy, I haven't had a lot of time to prepare the posts I want to do! I have so many things I want to show you guys, but the time will come :)
For now, I want to post about Craspedia a.k.a. Billy balls! I absolutely love them. I don't know if this is normal or not, but I've totally been planning my wedding in my head for several years and I'm pretty much set on having Craspedia in my wedding! They are so simple and fun, and I love the color. I just hope they aren't too expensive :)

I really like the way they look paired with succulents, and you know what's easy to take care of? SUCCULENTS! What do you guys think? Have you ever been to a wedding or event where Craspedia was used? I think it's such a great little bud (flower? seed? i don't know...I'm plant ignorant). Who knows what I'll think when I actually do get married though...

On the hunt: Curtains
Well guys, I recently rearranged my room, got a new desk and started painting (started...not finished). I am keeping my blue accent wall, but the other walls needed a fresh coat. I really want to post pictures, but I need to get some curtains first! I've been looking around and here is some curtain inspiration that I've found... enjoy!
That's just a few that I like...I'm definitely not set on anything yet. I might just go shopping for fabric and make my own in the end. Of course, I need to magically know how to sew to do that...or know someone who will sew them for me. Either way, when I finally get some, I'll post pictures of my room!

june=weddings
Today is the start of a whirlwind month for me. I have 2 weddings this weekend, then one on each of the next 2 weekends to follow...making 4 total for June. I know that doesn't sound like much, but I do also have a full-time job, so finding time for editing can be tricky. Luckily, 2 of the weddings are for Heather Hornbeak. She contracts me out, so she does all the editing, which means no post work for me!
I'm really excited for today's wedding. It's a friend of mine from college, and she is one of those people that just oozes cuteness. The wedding is at her parents' house so it's sure to be relaxed and fun! I've been pouring over wedding photography to get myself pumped, and here are some of my favorite inspirations...

I think I'm sufficiently inspired for the day. I usually put some on my iPod as well so I can flip through them if I start to feel like I'm getting stuck during the wedding. Wish me luck! It's going to be BLAZING HOT this weekend...in the high 90s! I think it's time I learned how to shoot a wedding in a dress because pants just ain't gonna cut it.

a scoutin' we will go
This coming weekend, my friend Abby and I are going to do another fashion shoot! The last one that we did was at a landscaping place (here), and I can't believe we've gone a whole year without doing another one. We don't do them for any particular reason...just to get portfolio images and to keep our creativity alive. Anyway today we went scouting. It's WAY short notice...and I don't even have a model yet, but Abby is still in school so things typically just come together in a matter of days. We were going to drive out of town, but I decided we should run by Casey Jones Village to look at the historic home they are restoring.
It's GREAT! I love how bare it is right now. It'll be a real challenge for me to try and put the focus on the clothes instead of just photographing the location...which is what I usually end up doing. My idea is to use some great creamy colors in cuts with a lot of movement. If my model is willing, I want to put her in some loose slips and possibly some jackets...I don't know, I've still got some thinking to do about that.
This house was so much different when I was there in November. Some of the walls had insulation, but most were just frames still. The floor was covered in dust and the windows were practically opaque...now the house almost looks ready to be furnished. I do miss the interesting paper on the ceilings, but other than that, everything is much improved! The high ceilings and floor to ceiling windows make me swooooooon. If you'd like to read some about the history of this incredible new piece of Jackson, check here.
Isn't Abby a doll? She'll be shooting as well. I'm interested to see how our photos turn our in comparison since we're working with the same location. We actually got quite different results with the last one!
