Easter (a week late)

Well, Easter was a week ago, but I'm going to go ahead and post some pictures from the fun and family filled day. I didn't really plan on getting dressed up because I never dress up for church. My church meets in my living room, so I don't really have a reason to get fancy :) I randomly decided to wear a dress I found at Goodwill, though. I love this dress, but it doesn't fit well AT ALL. Hips down is super tight, but above that is way loose. I don't know what kind of woman this dress was made for, but it wasn't me. Whatever, I wore it anyway!
details:
dress - Goodwill
shoes - Aerosols from Marshalls (ohmygoodness so comfy)

I wrapped some hair around my low ponytail and topped it off with a pin from FactoryGirlAshli who is actually closing up shop. That's the most effort I've put into my hair in a while (though I made up for it by not putting any effort into my makeup).

These three adorable sisters came to church in matching dresses. They seriously could not be cuter or sweeter. I love these kiddos!

After church was family time with my step-mom's family. We had a delicious lunch then had an Easter egg hunt for the two youngest girls. We actually had 3 hunts...but really I think they could hunt eggs all day long. Unfortunately the adults hiding the eggs tire more quickly, so 3 was the limit.

For dinner I went to Rhett's family dinner. We spent most of the night doting over the babies :) Isn't his little cousin the most adorable little boy EVER?! Gah...he's such a doll.

So that was my Easter...it was a long day but I loved every minute of it.

MableMae

Earlier this month I got to photograph some more things from Lenesha of MableMae. We've been trying out some new backgrounds, so they look a little different from previous shoots (1, 2, 3, 4). I think I still like the old backgrounds better, but the new ones do add a little more punch!

I've always loved the idea of dishwasher magnets. I got some a while back, and I really enjoy using them! I really don't know what I would do without them...it would be a pain to have to inspect the dishes every time I went to put something in there. This way if my roommates run the dishwasher, I know because the magnet is changed out! I guess what I'm trying to say is that everyone should have a set of these...well everyone that has a dishwasher.

I hope you've all had a wonderful week! Guess what?!
It's Friday Friday! (and tomorrow is Saturday, and Sunday comes afterwarrrrrds)

Heit Twins

These are some photos that I took of my co-worker's new twins. They were about 2 weeks old at this point, so we weren't able to get those cute posed shots that some people get. Newborn photography is DEFINITELY not my forte. There are some people that really have a gift for that, but my talents are elsewhere. I think these still turned out well for documenting this fleeting moment in their lives. Babies grow up so fast!

Meet Leila and Allie Kate. Allie decided to be awake the entire time, so she's always the one with her little eyes open. Leila, on the other hand, slept through the whole shoot! I really enjoyed getting to hold them and play with them. I think 0-6 months is my favorite age for kids. I'm sure my opinion on that will change when I actually have kids :)

That last shot is one that I entered to a contest with JPG magazine. Here it is on the site: Twice Blessed. I don't know a lot about the contest, but I'm crossing my fingers that I win! My entry is a little cliche, so I may enter another photo as well that's a little more of an abstract interpretation of the theme ("beginnings").

That's all for today! We're in for a long night of storms, plus I just started getting a cold. I just hope the storms pass quickly with minimal damage so I can get some sleep!

The Kills at the Cannery Ballroom

Alanna, Gabrielle and I went to see The Kills at the Cannery Ballroom in Nashville last night. It turned out to be a really great show! We were really close to the stage, but of course the closest people were all tall guys, so I still had to strain to see. There was also some twerp in a stinky leather jacket that squeezed us back despite my efforts to stand my ground (some people just plain amaze me with their chivalry).  I did manage to get a few decent pictures from the show, so I wanted to share them here.

They were both great performers. It's always a lot more fun when the musicians are really energetic...and that they were! I highly recommend seeing them live, even if you aren't a huge fan. I don't know all the songs by heart or anything, and I still had a great time.

I guess I should comment on my outfit, since I have a picture of it. That is seriously the most comfortable shirt I've EVER worn. I got it at Urban Outfitters a few weeks ago and saved it for this show. I've been really loving that kind of pattern lately. I went through a phase a few years ago where I bought a lot of those Aztec/Mayan-ish prints, and I guess I'm back in that phase. I'm glad I saved some of my pieces from a few years ago!

shirt, necklace: Urban Outfitters
jeans: Express
shoes: Target
bag: Pangea (Nashville)

I hope you guys like the pictures! And if you've never listened to The Kills, here's my favorite song: Sour Cherry.  I actually did a video during Sour Cherry, but the quality looked pretty bad when I put it on YouTube. I'm going to try to fix it and post it, but until then you have LOTS of pictures!

Happy early Easter!

my new whipped strawberry dwelling

It's been a couple of months since we did this, but we all know how good I am about timely posting (see last post). I had been wanting to paint the living room for a while, and one day I just decided it was well past time!

Here are some before shots. I had already starting tearing the place apart before I remembered to take pictures...thus the deer head on the couch.

Lots and lots of spackling! Once we had all that done, we painted the short walls a really light grey color. It actually looked white at first, but it darkened a lot over the next week, so I am happy with it! For the long walls (window wall and couch wall) I wanted something that was going to POP like crazy. I am not a pink person, but for some reason I really wanted to go with a coral color. We landed on a Valspar color called "whipped strawberry."

It was extremely bright at first...like blindingly bright. It was like that for a couple of weeks, but it's really mellowed since. Of course when we were done we rested, and Kelsey decided to lean back against the wall...it was pretty hilarious especially since this was in the wee hours of the morning.

So here are some "after" shots before I really got to decorate. I've rearranged the shelves and mantle, and hung a few things on the wall. I don't have my charcoal couch yet, but I'm aiming to get it this summer! The room will look a billion times better with a new couch, but for now I'm satisfied with a fresh paint job :)

That's it for now! I will post some more "complete" pictures once I get my couch.

Scott + Sarah

There are some wedding pictures from way back in December of 2010. I don't know why in the world I waited so long to post them! I just kept forgetting about them. Scott and Sarah are two of my friends from school, and it was such a joy to photograph their wedding! I hope you all enjoy the photographs.

These were just a few of my favorites. Sarah was such a good sport and skated around the church for me. And isn't her dress just beautiful?! Here's one of her and me at the reception...

I also wanted to post some photos of their album. I print coffee-table style wedding albums for the bride and groom, so I wanted to show it off here. I love the quality of them! I think they're also fun to pass around to family members and friends who couldn't make it to the wedding.

I also threw in a special gift since they are my friends :) 3 framed photos for them to hang in their apartment! I took the three photos with this idea in mind, and I'm pleased with how it turned out. I lucked out that their church has a lot of colorful walls!

Sorry about the photo heavy post, but I really wanted to share one of my favorite weddings with you. Scott and Sarah are such a sweet couple, and I truly enjoyed being a part of their wedding day.
