Home

So my roommate, Paige (not actually my roommate anymore...but it feels weird not to call her that), is an artist. A GREAT artist. She worked at Anderson Ranch this summer and she came back with some great new work. She just put a show up in our campus coffee shop, Barefoots Joe, and I had to go check it out.

I have only gotten to talk briefly about it with her, but I know it's based around home and family.Think about how many different types of homes there are. The houses are all made from the same mold, but they are all so different. The houses on the big wall are upside down, showing the foundations to be in various states. As a Christian I view the homes with solid foundations to be homes where God is the foundation of the family. Considering I'm about to start a family with Rhett this weekend, this show actually means a lot to me. I know that my family has to be grounded in Christ to thrive. That doesn't mean there won't be hard times...I'd be naive to believe that! But a family with God as it's foundation is a family that survives those hard times.

Paige, if you're reading this, feel free to leave a comment further explaining the show! I know I'd love to read it...since I won't see you for a few weeks :)

This is probably my last post until after the honeymoon! If I have time, which I doubt I will, I'll schedule a post about my friend's surprise birthday party, but please forgive me if I forget :) By 5:30 Saturday I will be a married woman, guys! And by lunch on Sunday I'll be in Disneyworld with my awesome husband! I think I'm more excited about going to Disney than I am about the wedding day. I know we're going to have a blast. I hope you all have a wonderful week and a half! I'll miss you.

Barefoots Roasting

One of my favorite parts of my job is going out and doing photoshoots for various publications/ads/whatever. We have a staff photographer, so I only do this kind of thing on occasion. My friend and office-mate, Sarah, had this vision for the back cover of next year's handbook, and I was excited to help out! We always have an ad for our campus coffee shop on the back of the handbook, and since we've just recently started roasting the coffee here on campus, Sarah thought a photo illustration of the process would be neat. I agree! The ad will have three of the photos I took, but I wanted to post these four because they are my favorites. I guess a coffee-themed post is pretty much perfect for a Monday :)

Photography Show and Barefoots

Early in the summer, I put some of my miniature photos up in Barefoots Joe, our campus coffee shop. They've been up a looooong time, but they officially came down yesterday. I got lots of great comments on them! Several people said they enjoyed how much color it brought to the space. It was kind of fun seeing them up when I went to grab coffee (which, let's be honest, is way too often). I just wanted to share some pictures of the show with you guys.

I am keeping three of the frames to use in my living room, but I'm hoping to hang the rest in a local bank with my roommate's pottery! My bank does a monthly(?) art show, and I'm hoping we can do a joint one together. I would link to her Etsy shop, but she hasn't started one yet (hint, hint KELSEY!).

I'm going to go ahead and get new mattes made because the mattes that came with the IKEA frames were a weird size. The space between the photo and matte REALLY bothers me, but I didn't have the money to do new mattes at the time...so oh well! Barefoots patrons are very forgiving :)

Have a good weekend everyone! Enjoy this amazing Fall weather.

Coffee + Scones

One of the perks of working at a University is the coffee house. The one here is called Barefoots Joe (named after a former Union president and without an apostrophe because it "messed up the logo design")

The baked goods, like the chocolate chip scone that I devoured this morning, are made locally, which makes me pretty happy. I love knowing where my food is coming from.

They are also selling travel cups now. I think they are ceramic, double walled (correct me if I'm wrong). They don't get too hot, and I get 25 cents off for using a reusable cup! SCORE!
