Garner Blue

A few months ago, my friend Lisa asked me to take some photos of her beautiful hand dyed indigo scarves. The best part? She paid me in pie. I wouldn't accept payment in pie from just anyone, but a Lisa Garner pie is worth a lot more than money, I promise. She was the one who made the delicious individual serving pies at my wedding!

Enough about pie, here are the photos of some amazing Garner Blue pieces

Check out Garner Blue on Etsy.

THE Garners. Joe and Lisa, both incredibly creative and generally awesome people.

This was a really simple shoot, and I had a lot of fun with it. Some of our friends modeled the scarves for us, and they did great! The light just happened to be perfect that day, and we used a simple field/trees setting to make the scarves really stand out. Ever thoughtful, Lisa also had hot chocolate for all of us because it was so cold. I hope to do more shoots like this in the future, so if you know of any creators who need photos, have them hit me up! I have a couple coming up soon that I'm SUPER PUMPED about.

iPhone 4(S) Photo Case Giveaway - Space Jam and Hungry Policemen

I hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving! I'm still in my pajamas enjoying my day off work. I don't really get into Black Friday shopping, but I know a ton of people who do! I thought I might do a giveaway to combat all the money spending that is going on today :) It's always nice to win something, right?! I've been sitting on these two iPhone 4(S) cases for some time, just waiting for the right time to give them away. I tested them for a few days on my own phone and loved them! They definitely aren't for people who are prone to dropping their phone because it's not made for protection. It's made for looking awesome! They were made over at Aluminyze, which I highly recommend.

One case has Hungry Policemen on it, and the other features Space Jam, and there will be two winners! The first winner that I draw will get to choose their case. Here's how to enter:
  1. Like my Facebook Page: Kristi McMurry Photography
  2. Like the post on Facebook about this giveaway
Simple as that! Here are some options for even more entries:
  1. Comment on the post about this giveaway on Facebook saying which case is your favorite - one additional entry
  2. Share the giveaway on Facebook (make sure you make the privacy settings public so I can see it) - two additional entries
  3. Tweet about this giveaway and mention @KristiMcMurry - two additional entries
  4. Purchase a print from my shop on Etsy (Use code HOLIDAY30 for 30% off) - five additional entries per item purchased
Happy entering! This giveaway will go all the way through Cyber Monday since that's the big internet shopping day. I will draw the winners on Tuesday. The first winner I draw will have their choice of phone case.

Sol Heritage Product Photos

One thing I really wish I could do more of is product photography! I have these lofty goals of shooting still lifes for magazines and products for look books. It's ok to dream big, right? What I love is trying to showcase the products in the best way. Of course I have much to learn in the way of planning shoots and prop styling, so most of what I do now is pretty basic. Luckily that works well for Etsy sellers like Sol Heritage.

The photos above were taken more recently than the ones below, and I think I like that location a little better for the outdoor shots. I loved working with Juliana on these too! She's a doll, right?! Luckily she lives right downtown so we just walked to the location and shot away. We also used the seemless in the ad agency she works for, so the shots on the white background were super easy!

One of my 2014 goals is to send a portfolio to Garden & Gun (so far out of my league, it's not even funny) and Tennesse Home & Farm (slightly more in my league, but still a stretch). Before I can do that, I have to actually build a portfolio of studio shots! My food photos for Green Frog are definitely a good start, but I'm looking forward to working on much much more. I might even approach some Etsy sellers about doing styled shoots of their work. If you know of anyone who might be interested in something like that, have them email me! kristimcmurry@gmail.com

I hope you all are having a super week! It's been crazy busy lately, but in a good way. I am brainstorming some really exciting creative things with some of my Jackson friends, so I look forward to sharing more about that. I'm also considering re-branding in 2014 (eep!), so lots of research and brainstorming happening about that. Whew!
