Well it's the 3rd and final full day in Cincinnati! Ok, so this all actually happened in early October...I'm just slow about getting it posted. Anyway, mom and I had a GREAT day!
We started off going to the Cincinnati Art Museum. I really wanted to go to see the exhibit of bridal gowns from the past two centuries...and it.was.spectacular. I was particularly amazed by the Zac Posen gown they had on exhibit. Maybe it was just that it stood out so much from the rest, but I was just really in love with this gown. It was stunning! There was also a gorgeous Lanvin, Dior, and a couple of Vera Wang gowns. Basically it was awesome. Unfortunately, I wasn't allowed to take pictures...but I was able to take some in the rest of the museum, which was a work of art in itself.
You can see the exhibition in the background of this one...that's the Lanvin on display.
They had a room with German prints...this was my favorite!
This is looking back to downtown, where we stayed. We could see this while we were walking back from the museum...to the car.
This is looking across the river to Kentucky. We ventured to a place called Mt. Adams, and while we were walking around we could see the river. The area was so adorable! It was a little more lifeless than I expected, but still fun to look at. I think it would be a great place if there were more shops and cafe places.
This is where we had a GREAT meal. It was quaint and pretty quiet, and totally fit the area around it. I enjoyed sitting the corner by the window and just watching people walk by!
This is what the houses looked like in Mt. Adams...it was like being in some dreamy movie. The place was just so dang adorable. We went to a couple of other areas, but I ultimately got annoyed that I couldn't find a nice little coffee shop to just sit and have a drink. We ended up back in Cincinnati at a Starbucks...oh well. There was probably a perfect little place right on the river, I just couldn't find it because I don't have an iPhone to tell me where everything is.
And that's our little adventure! I had a decent time in Cincinnati, but it's definitely not my favorite city or anything (sorry if you're from there). The best part about the trip was going to Ikea before heading home. I bought WAY too much, but I needed it all....honest!

Cincinnati Day 2

Allow me to introduce...Atomic Number Ten! Mom and I ventured out to this vintage store during our second day in Cincinnati. It was a bit of a journey from the hotel, and let's just say we were clutching out purses pretty tight in some of the areas. The long and frightening walk was worth it though! I loved the displays here and there was so much to look at! I ended up getting the top from this post there...and also a ring, which I will post about another time. They also have a great blog and Etsy shop!
Cincinnati Kristi is a bit sloppy if I do say so myself. I guess I'm ok with that...I liked feeling comfortable while I was in an unfamiliar place.

After Atomic Number Ten, mom and I were famished, so we found a sushi place near the hotel. I know what you're thinking..."I don't know if I could eat at a place called Mr. Sushi..." but let me assure you, it was exactly like the sushi places I've been to at home! It wasn't anything special, but it was definitely satisfactory. Mom hasn't joined the sushi club yet, so she had noodles...which she said were tasty!
As the sun was setting, we sat by the fountain on the square and had some absolutely heavenly Graeter's ice cream. I've been told it was good, but it was soooooooooooooo much better than I imagined! Better than any ice cream I've ever put in my mouth! (Except maybe Besso's in Henderson...which is also extremely tasty).
I love just sitting outside and enjoying my surroundings, which is exactly what we did. I'm glad mom didn't mind just hanging out...I was so tired from the conference and from all the walking that I didn't want to do much. Overall day 2 was a success: I learned a ton at the conference and had a nice evening with mom!

Cincinnati Day 1
This weekend was a little rough. My cousin, who also happens to be one of my best friends, spent all weekend with her family at the hospital. Her grandmother on her mom's side passed away today after about 36 hours in the hospital. I'm so sad for them! I hope and pray that they are able to find comfort in all the people who love and care for them.
I don't want to bum you all out with sadness, so I want to finally post pictures from my trip to Cincinnati (um...3 weeks ago)!
Ooooo traffic, how I loathe thee. There was an accident on the interstate, so we sat in some traffic for a while. Luckily we weren't in a huge hurry! Oh and speaking of driving, I got to drive a new Chevy Impala for the trip...I did NOT want to give it back. It made me sad to go back to my beat up bishi.
Our room was small, but so cute. We stayed in the historic Hilton Cincinnati Netherland Plaza, which was just so stunning! The conference was also held here, so it was pretty convenient.
That Sunday happened to be a Reds game that was really important. It was the one that decided whether they went to the World Series or not...I think. At any rate there were a TON of people downtown. Getting something to eat was pretty much the most challenging thing I've ever done. Every restaurant was out of whatever food they serve...it was very frustrating!
There was a reception for the conference that was held in the Cincinnati Contemporary Arts Center. I walked around for a while and attempted some awkward mingling. I finally left and decided to try finding food again with mom. We eventually found a sandwich place called Potbelly's, and we were excited to hear they had a couple of meats and breads left...whew!
Despite how frustrated I was with the insane amount of people around me, it was pretty amazing to see all those Reds fans come together to watch the game in the middle of the city. It was like something out of a movie. In the picture with the red, those people are watching a big screen that is above one of the buildings. They were showing the Titans game before the Reds came on! Mom and I watched a little of it, so that was really a fun experience.
Mom and I coming in for the night. We had to get out of the crowd of Reds fans before they lost...that would have been traumatizing. Pardon the sloppiness. I drove all day and then started conference stuff, so my appearance was the last thing on my mind.
Wow, this was photo heavy. Apologies! It was a brand new city for me, so can you blame me?!

*sigh* I did not go in...
