Wanting Watches
I've been wanting a watch lately. I get on these kicks where search diligently for something...but I never find exactly what I want. I guess I get too picky, but anyway here are some super great watches from Etsy that I'm thinking about!

It's all in the DETAILS
I went rummaging through some wedding photos from the past few years, and I realized how many great ideas I've gotten from shooting weddings! I'm not married or engaged, but I plan to someday, so getting ideas this early has been pretty great. Here are some that I love...
Probably one of my favorite ideas involving food is putting fruit in these raised glasses. The different heights look beautiful, and fruit is already a great display food.
I really enjoyed going through some of my old photos.
I LOVE the idea of having a cupcake tower. It's so much easier and more fun than a traditional cake...and totally kid-friendly! I also love little wedding favors. I'm not sure what kind of favor that I'd want to give out. I'll have to keep thinking on it...
Centerpieces are so important! They really set the mood of a wedding. I loved this one that was a tall cylindrical vase with calla lillies in water. Absolutely stunning! Another thing I loved was the mason jars surrounded by petals. I think I'd prefer milk glass, but jars are cute too.
Colors! This is actually from an Indian engagement ceremony, but I love the idea of having lots of color at a wedding. I adore paper lanterns (obviously...because I have one in my office). They create a great atmosphere, especially for a wedding.
This wedding had cute little lanterns on the tables and brown paper to write on. Guests wrote sweet messages to the bride and groom on the paper. I thought that was a really neat and personal alternative to a guest book!
I really enjoyed going through some of my old photos.
I'd love to hear some of your neat wedding ideas!

Weekend Shopping
I've been shopping quite a bit lately, but something has changed. I used to have a bad habit of buying things I didn't need....well I still do, but now I usually find better deals! I stopped by the antique store down the street again yesterday (same place I got this stuff), and it was a GREAT trip!
I went to look for camera since I found a good one last time and I found another one! This is the second one I've gotten from the early 60s lately, so I'm pretty excited!
I cried when I saw this (not really...but drama is good entertainment). It's a Christian Dior night gown and I think it's so beautiful! I have no idea what year it's from, so if you know I'd love to hear! I had been wanting a nightgown anyway so this was fate.
Farmer's market! Hooray for fruit...the black berries turned out to be really bitter :( But I'm still going to leave them out for a little bit as decoration. I might be able to salvage them in a cobbler with a ton of sugar...just maybe.
Happy Saturday to everyone! Enjoy this lovely weekend <3

Time to Celebrate! Giveaway!
Earlier this week I finally reached 50 followers on this little blog of mine. It seems small, but to me if feels great! To celebrate I'm doing a giveaway...and it's pretty inappropriate for July, but I don't care!
If you've read my blogs, you know that I'm completely in love with Shepherd's Haven, an organization that ministers to adults with developmental disabilities. They do so many wonderful things for people in their community, and I've been working with them on their Etsy shop. So the giveaway is from their shop! I know it's summer, but who said you can't get ready for Christmas early?!
These ornaments are from last year's batch. They mostly do clay cutout ornaments now, so you may not see more of these this year! (The giveaway includes all 3 ornaments)

Nostalgia. Slides. Family.
There are several very vivid memories that I have from my childhood. You know, things like crashing my bike into a metal trashcan, riding the Hangman at Opryland, boot scootin' with my Daddy and Papaw, etc.. One other thing I remember is that every time my mother's family got together, my grandfather would go through reels and reels of slides. These were family photos captured mostly by him. Sitting through slides was pure torture back then, but now I long for those days. Each slide had a different story, and there was always laughter a'plenty. I didn't develop an interest in photography until after he passed away, but Granddaddy had a huge hand in my love for the camera.
I could go on an on about Grandmama and Granddaddy, but I'm sure you'd fall asleep at your computer before getting past the first couple of paragraphs. I'll just leave you with some of the slides (thanks to my uncle, who converted them to digital)
Granddaddy was in the Navy, and the middle photograph is of him in Japan. I think the first on was taken in Hawaii. And of course I have to put the picture of him with his kick-butt Impala!
Precious little family. My mom and I look scary alike if you compare pictures from when we were kids. Also, Granddaddy was a fireman...wasn't he awesome?! That house in the first picture was were I spent a lot of my days as a kid. They eventually had to move because the neighborhood was getting rough. I don't know very many people that enjoy drive-by shootings in their front yard.
This is one of my favorite photographs EVER. I'm planning on getting this printed if I can get a hold of the original slide. That's Grandmama proving she can still ride a bike (and mom is the one in the black)
Mom was mad about something...but Uncle rich looks pretty giddy. Grandmama's outfit in the second one is so wonderful. She was a homemaker, so she didn't have fancy clothes, but her casual outfits were super cute.
As you can see, my family believed in hand-me-downs
Mom and her bro. There's one somewhere from Christmas where they each got musical instruments. They are posed like they're playing but they're facing straight ahead, just staring. There's just something about it that is so perfect.
That is just a mere fraction of the number of slides we used to go through...but I wouldn't trade those slide shows for anything in the world.
