My Roomie is Talented!

So, my roommate Paige is crazy talented. All of these pieces were made for her senior exhibition.

Each clay piece was tied in with a person who influenced Paige and an act of kindness for each person. She picked 5 people who had influenced her life and did something nice for them. She represented these acts of kindness in the gallery along with the clay pieces she made to represent them.

The student gallery isn't the greatest, but Paige managed to make it look pretty decent :)

These are the cups she made for her high school art teacher. They go along with the kiln piece above.

It's really hard to get the full effect of her work just from pictures, because there's so much detail! I'm sure if she's reading this, she's blushing and saying "ooooh whatever...," but really, I can't believe she just graduated undergrad school, and she's already so good! I'm kind of excited to see what all she comes up with in the next few years.

Now I just have to convince her to open an Etsy shop! haha!

Basil Pan Burgers

I'm home alone for most of today, so I decided to cook myself some lunch. I had some ground beef, so I decided on these burgers from my new cookbook (Better Homes and Gardens!) They turned out really well! If you click on the photo, it will bring up the full res image so you can read it and try it out yourself.

Since it's the end of the month, I haven't been to the grocery store in a while, so I had to just use the stuff I had. I substituted a lot of things that I didn't have, so I'm sure the actual recipe is quite different. Experimenting with different things is more fun anyway!

Well, now that I've finished my lunch, I'm off to take down my Christmas stuff. Hopefully it won't take me all day!

Merry Christmas!

It's a quiet morning here in West Tennessee :) There's a tiny bit of snow of the ground and it's coming down nice and slow. I woke up with the nice warm wood stove keeping me cozy! After opening gifts, we ate sausage balls and coffee..well we drank the coffee. So far that's all that's happened...but I already love this day!

Here's a few of the things my mommy and guy (step-dad) gave me. Some milk glass, pottery, a neck scarf, vintage camera, and lamp that's not in the picture. The lamp is one from Target that I've been wanting for like 3 years! My mom's a good listener :)

I had to post my stocking...I've had this stocking since I was a baby. My Aunt Ruth (whom mom and I shared a duplex with) made it for me. Mom keeps trying to buy us all matching stockings, but I refuse to let her replace mine. I will use this stocking until the day I die!

I will have several more Christmas posts, I'm sure. I have lots of branches in my family, so there will be a lot to post about! I hope that everyone is having a wonderful day, no matter what you celebrate :)

Merry Christmas!

Temperance

Here are some pictures I took of a little girl for Christmas. Her mom and I used to go to church together waaaay back in the day! We just did a quick shoot with the Christmas tree at my work.

I love this one :) "Can I open this one now?!" And her outfit is just ridiculously adorable.

Hoarding ornaments. She was having a grand 'ole time with those ornaments! She really enjoyed throwing them off the couch so I would go get them :) ha!

Only 2 more days until Christmas! I hope you are all getting some time off for family and relaxing <3

Scott and Sarah sneak peek

I've been such a terrible blogger lately. I've sort of re-prioritized my life during the holidays, but I promise that I'll be back to regular blogging once things are back to normal. There have been some great things happening lately! We had our first snow of the winter several days ago, my sister sang in the Christmas program at her school, my friends and I went to see the lights at Opryland, and so much more! I have photos to share from some of that.

For now, I want to show you a photo from Scott and Sarah's wedding on Saturday! Sarah and I were on photo staff together in college, and Scott was in some of my classes. I spent the most time with them on publication nights for the newspaper! You really get close to people when you stay up until 4am with them. I still remember when they first started dating, and I have enjoyed seeing them become such a perfect couple. I was so honored that they chose me to shoot their wedding, and it was so much fun!

Isn't she just unbelievable beautiful?! I can't wait to show you more from their wedding. I absolutely love December weddings.

I hope you're all having a wonderful Christmas week!

Photo Booth

My friend Alanna and I make special trips to the mall occasionally so that we can get some photo booth pictures. Here are a couple that we did at the mall in town. We just did some yesterday too, but I haven't scanned them yet. Occasionally, we have to take one shot out if it's incredibly unflattering (took one out from the first set)...I'm talking like blackmail material.

Do any of you do these?
SO MUCH FUN!

Sx-70 film. First set

Back in September I picked up this really neat Polaroid SX-70 land camera at the antique store. I got some film from the Impossible Project, and I've taken some pictures over the last few months. I don't know if it's the camera or the film, but most of them don't turn out so well. Some of them have been pretty neat...and honestly, I love using the camera for the thrill of seeing if the shot will turn out!

I wish this one had turned out. I was eating Graeter's ice cream with mom...It was the best ice cream EVER!

haha...yeah I'm standing in front of the museum. Promise! If I look really hard and squint a little I can sort of see the outline of a girl in the middle.

My feline bff

Still can't remember how old he is. And it's super dark, but you can still tell he's ridiculously adorable.

And this is my human bff asleep on the couch.

Fall Festival...a month and a half late

On halloween (actually it was a couple of days before) I went to a fall festival at the school where my uncle teaches. I pretty much followed my little sister and cousin around, and just ate a lot of hamburgers. We stood in line for them to do the jumping thing, then we went on the "haunted" hayride. The only thing that I find appealing about halloween is seeing my sister dressed up, because she always looks ridiculously adorable.

1st. Sister with her face paint. In the second shot, I told her to be like a cat.  2nd. The little ferris wheel. It wasn't near as popular as the jumping dealio. 3rd. My cousin jumping. I'm sure her hair was one huge tangle after that!

4th. Another one of my cousin jumping. 5th 6th 7th. Sister jumping like a champ! She's so little that she just flips over and over and over. Everyone was ooooing and ahhhhhing.

8th. Waiting for the hayride. 9th. Tina and Sister!

We waited for a while to get on the hayride, but it was worth it! I think everyone enjoyed it...except the lady across from us. She was freaking out...which was pretty hilarious for the rest of us. They actually got up in there with the chainsaws, so I can see how people would be scared! I took some video, but I never got around to doing anything with it. I may do that over Christmas break...it was actually pretty neat looking.

Sorry that it took me so long to post this! I think the best part is my sister's cat face :) Isn't she the cutest?!

Mr. Benson - Slides

I shot some slides for the ceramics professor at our school, and I thought I'd share a few of them here. The DOF is a little shallow for slides, but I don't have a macro lens anymore. The biggest disadvantage to switching back to Canon was losing my awesome Nikon macro lens. My next big purchase will be a macro lens for Canon!

I love how the glaze turned out on these bowls. I know absolutely NOTHING about ceramics, but I think the glazing is one of the hardest parts to get right.

I can be honest here, right? I'm not a big fan of the tops of these canisters. I guess I just prefer something a little more "deliberate" if that makes sense. I do, however, love the shape of the canister and the purple tint in the glaze. So gorgeous!

There's just something I love about that red combined with the light blueish green (oribe? maybe...I have no idea). All the Benson pots that I have are either red or oribe...I don't have any of these that are combined. Maybe someday!

This is my favorite! I actually like the top on this one, and the glaze did some REALLY cool things. I'm not sure if this one sold...but I really wish I would have bought it. Paige (my roommate) and I have a pretty huge collection of pottery between the two of us. It's hard to add to it at this point since there's really nowhere to put it. I need a couple more mantles and display cabinets!

I'm glad Mr. Benson gives me the opportunity to shoot these. I actually sort of despise shooting pottery, but I make an exception for him!

Do any of you use handmade pots in your home?
